Virtual Patient Consultation:
- Patient consultations include patient information and history, past consultations, and consultation notes (if entered). Their information is saved within the system.
- Patient consultations are always booked into the healthcare provider's clinic schedule.
- Patients may invite up to two family members, caregivers or others to their virtual appointment. The invitation is sent by email and will include a unique meeting ID and passcode. Invitees must create an account in the 'SK Virtual Visit' app to join the consultation when invited by the patient.
- Healthcare providers may invite multiple guests (specialists, clinicians, patient family members or caregivers) to their patient's virtual consultation as well. The invitation is sent by email and will include the unique meeting ID and passcode. An account in the 'SK Virtual Visit' app is NOT required to join a consultation when invited by the healthcare provider.
- Patient virtual consultations will include a video call or, in certain situations, can include a phone call.
- Patient Consultations are stored under 'Consultations' > 'Completed' for future reference. There, a 'Search' feature is available with criteria such as Consult ID Patient Name, Province, Consultation Status, Care Team Members and Date Range.
Virtual Meeting:
- 'Meet Now' meetings are a way to meet with others (specialists, clinicians, patients, patient's family members or caregivers) via video or phone when patient info and history, past consultations, consultation notes, are not required.
- Meetings can be held immediately or scheduled into the healthcare provider's clinic schedule.
- Meeting info, such as type (video/phone), participants, date and a short note (if added after the meeting ends) are stored under 'Meet Now' > 'Past Meetings' for future reference. There, a 'Search' feature is available with criteria such as participant name, date range, care team member, and meeting type.
Video Meetings: multiple participants may be invited by the clinic to attend with a meeting ID and passcode.
Phone Meetings: two participants only. The healthcare provider's phone number will not be displayed to the patient.
You may wonder, 'why use the SK Virtual Visit platform to have a phone meeting, rather than simply phone someone?'... meeting info is kept for future reference (similar to the info kept for Video Meetings).
When you receive a phone call (which may be indicated by a 1-833# or the healthcare clinic's name), answer the call right away, listen to the message and wait on the line for the healthcare provider to connect.
