The security of patient information is an ethical and legal mandate in conjunction with provincial and federal guidelines including HIPA and PIPEDA. As in a physical environment, 100% security is entirely impossible, especially within a healthcare environment, that requires the sharing of healthcare information of a patient being a critical component to the consistency of their healthcare.
Lumeca Health in partnership with SK Virtual Health work very hard to ensure compliance with the provincial and federal laws in place to safeguard patient information, this includes abiding by the retention periods expressed in the Acts.
This means that we do not delete your information until it has reached at least 10 years since date of last entry, or for minors, until 10 years after they reach the age of majority.
